Phoebe Grace Plasto was born in Paddington, Sydney, Australia to Julie Plasto who teaches Art and Design & Technology, and Peter Plasto who is Treasurer of a construction company. She has an older brother Hugh and a younger sister Lily. Having an interest in performing from the get go, Phoebe started ballet at 2 and a half and continued her training until she was 18. While at primary school, she played piano and tennis before quickly discovering the world of acting after being cast in her first role in her school play. After discovering her passion, she then went on to have drama lessons and AMEB Drama and Performance examinations passing only with high distinctions. This prompted her teacher to enter her in competitions such as McDonald and Sydney Eisteddfod's, where year after year, she consecutively received first or second places. Phoebe kept busy while at high school running the drama club, performing leading roles in her school plays and musicals as well as singing in the choir and playing the flute in the school band. She also had a keen interest in sports; competing in softball, netball, rhythmic gymnastics and had natural talent in track and field, particularly excelling in hurdles where she was the undefeated hurdling champion 6 years in a row, which then took her on to compete for the State, however, her interest was always brought back to acting. In her final year, she was awarded Drama Captain of her high school, selected to be Ambassador for the Griffin Theatre Company and was awarded Academic Excellence. In addition, Phoebe dabbled in modeling appearing in magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Girlfriend, as well as countless editorials and walking in shows for multiple designers. After graduating, Phoebe was offered a scholarship to university to study law but turned it down, and at 18 moved straight to New York to commence study at the New York Film Academy. Once finished her studies, she moved back to Sydney and started out doing plays for Short + Sweet 'The World's Biggest Small Theatre Festival', where she repeatedly won the Judge's Choice Awards and People's Choice Awards. Her agent recommended her to take classes at On Camera Connections with Sandra Lee Paterson, which she continued to do on the side for 3 years. She landed her breakout theatre role when she played Nora in Henrik Ibsen's 'A Dolls House' sparking her passion for theatre. Trying her hand in verbatim theatre, Phoebe took on several roles in Alana Valentine's 'Run Rabbit Run' once again broadening her range. She continued to build her career in theatre performing in multiple plays and also starred in such musicals as Sound of Music, 42nd Street and Beauty and the Beast. After being cast in several commercials, Phoebe sparked an interest for film. She gained experience by starring in several short films before transitioning into feature film with a TV Movie. With a thirst to learn every aspect of her craft, Phoebe went back to her studies and attended the Actors Centre Australia, which she juggled while continuing to act in plays and short films.
