Born Electa Grandison, she was raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. She grew up watching movies and wishing for a chance. A dancer by heart, she studied under the direction of Betty Gibbs. In 1988 she was a principle dancer W.A.M.O., a local black radio station in Pittsburgh. Her chance at acting came in 2007, when she got a gig as an extra for the mini series "The Kill Point", walking on the set she ask if she could do the picture double/stand in job for the actress, Michael Hyatt. The director put her in the spot. She did two more jobs as an extra in, "The Next Three Days" and "Won't Back Down".
